Tarantino

Now, I am a huge (and I mean huge) Quentin Tarantino fan. I was just wondering if there were any others here who also love his films, and what your favourites are?
Also, anyone seen Grindhouse yet? Really want to see that, but it's not out here yet.

Sadly, I can't boast a fandom for Tarantino. I could never really get into his stories and their gratuitous bloodbaths.

For what it's worth, I did sit through Kill Bill vol.1 and was alright--the battles were rather funny. I couldn't finish the second, because I got so unbelievably bored.

I was told Resovoir Dogs is a good one, but I've never been in a situation where I could go rent it or was interested enough to give it a shot. Oh, well! He is very popular, so he's doing something right! ;)

Kill Bill is amazing! The over-the-top ridiculousness of the first film is pure cinematic genius, especially the use of colour (in my opinion). For example, the part where the Bride kills O-Ren Ishii, you see a splash of blood hit the pure white snow. I think it's awesome!
(Did Drama as an A-Level, can't help but analyse random stuff like that.)
The second one is good as a prequel, telling the audience how all the events came to be. And even though there's very little killing on her part (down from dozens to just the one), the Bride is still awesome. Seeing her dig herself out of a grave was pretty cool, and then having a huge stand-off in a caravan right after doing so.

As for Reservoir Dogs - watch it! Seriously, it's his best film in my opinion. I can't even explain how good it is until you've seen it. You should see Pulp Fiction too, if you haven't already.

Then again, all the above is coming from a Tarantino fanatic. If you don't like his films or the whole "slice 'em up" genre, then it's fair enough. When it comes down to it, it's all a matter of opinion.

Tarantino has a very special way of making movies... He creates his own universe, where it's quite possible to be "the good guy" and an enthusiastic murderer, and also a good mother...
But you have to accept that his universe functions along other lines (especially when it comes to moral and ethics), otherwise it doesn't work.
I guess that's really the way with all fiction, but it gets obvios in, e.g, Kill Bill.
Also, it helps if you understand where he's coming from, with the spaghetti westerns, Hong Kong action, Kurosawa and everything that inspires him.

Personally, I LOVE Tarantinos visual style, the colours and the light, the contrasts... Well, actually, I love his audial (is that a word? It is now...) style as well, the sound effects and THE MUSIC!

Will stop ranting now, but yes, I like Tarantino.

Hehe, it's like you took my jumbled thoughts and turned them into articulate words.
Also, yay! Another Tarantino fan. Have you seen Grindhouse yet?

Well, I'm nothing if not articulate.
Ahem.
I use a lot of words, at least.

Sadly, no. Not sure when it's showing here in the far north, but hopefully I'll be able to catch it soon.
