This thread is for the good things in life that happen to you. Gush freely!
I'll start.

For the past couple of months I've been doing construction cleanup jobs and then last week was the last week, so the past few days I've been jobless. I got a new job today at a box cutting place, which is easy work to me, because the job prior to the construction job was strut packing. So really the big change in that would be instead of folding the boxes and putting struts in them, I'm putting the boxes in a machine to be cut. Same wages as the strut packing job, but it's a 90 day temp to hire deal. As long as the co-workers are decent people unlike at Arvin, I really won't have a problem. The pace is what I'm used to, so no big change there. The "I'm on a quota, I must hurry." frame of mind from Arvin kind of transferred over to the construction cleanup thing, so my supervisor there was really pleased with my work, and I have very high recommendations for any job from the supervisor AND the temp service, so if I make the supervisor at Green Bay Packing happy, it may take less than 90 days to get hired on. Smile
Yay! MONEY FLOWING IN AGAIN! YES YES YES YES YES!
btw, 8.50 an hour is darn good cash around here. Ghettoklahoma
>.>

What is this money you speak of? It seems... familiar, somehow... Like something I might once have touched...

Hey, congratulations, Jerle!

Cool for you Jerle! make 20NIS an hour (about 5$) so I have 4 jobs. & school... sigh.

I too have good news. The reason I have 4 jobs is because I signed for the international university at Venice, for the semester program. It wasn't a sure thing (though, with my grads they would take me) but it is done- I'm going! I will study 1 semester at Venice, Italy. It will cost me about 30,000NIS (you do the math, 1$=3.5NIS, because the $ is down)... Oh dear. Well, parents pay, but it's not fair. & it WILL prolong my finishing B.A, which mean MORE money. & the professors are STILL on strike here, so no one knows what's about to happen...

But still, good news. Oh, & I get the scholarship- 800$. That's about one plain ticket. The dorms will cost me about 1200euro... for 3 months. Yep, good news. Confused

Here's the update on the job front Razz
Was a good night all told
Half the night I was shoving boxes into an oversized paper shredder.
The other half was cutting straps off of stacks of cardboard for the feeder guy. I was watching them do the actual box making work, and it actually is pretty easy. Machines do most of the work, the hardest thing about it is setting up the machines. Supervisor told me if I keep working like that, I'll be hired on BEFORE my 90 days Razz
Good stuff yo.

And congrats to you too Jerle for the new job.

The only happy thing in my life today is that it is friday, finally...

I saw a mouse in the library yesterday and decided to be happy for the fact that it wasn't one of those mutated cityrats. Plus the mouse was pretty cute. Smile

Just a guess.

Um, Hagar asked what schools: Yale, Harvard, Wesleyan, Princeton, Oberlin, University of Michigan, Swarthmore, Amherst, Northwestern, Brown

They're all in the US. ( . . . This is pretty random, but I'm gonna be in Israel in February, actually. Maybe I can wave at you, Hagar Smile)

Most certainly complicated and time-consuming. That was the most stressful winter vacation I've ever had. Sad (Especially with deciding to send an arts supplement at the last minute - but that was my fault Razz) Some people start worrying about it like a year or two before. Crazy people.

Wow, good schools! Is this list your priority list as well? I hope you'll get what you want...

When you're coming? I'll be going to Venice in mid month... But have fun anyways...

& in other good news- I got had a ceremony yesterday. They gave me a diploma & a check. I'm a rector honorary student... Not much money though. University in trouble... But plenty prestige, so I'm told! Wow, good schools! Is this list your priority list as well? I hope you'll get what you want...
