| Damn, that's a beautiful page. London...rain...a man fighting for his life...with a spear! This is wonderful stuff. Barb, you get better with every page! :-) |

Great beginning for the chapter, indeed. It makes me wonder two things: what's Charlie's relationship with Tychia and why does he look like he hasn't slept in a week? Well, of course those aren't the only questions it arises, but the others are pretty easy to guess, especially with the new sketches.
Nothing much to say that hasn't already been said, but I just have to point out that your ability to create atmosphere with art and story is marvelous.
I can't say the page made me cry or made my day (I read it days ago, but I'm still pretty sure I'd remember if it was that impressive), but I'm definitely waiting the next page eagerly. _________________ "You lopped his head off? Thank you Steve and Krozam. I figure you can't go wrong starting your story with a bleeding guy in a tuxedo shirt. ^_^
LOL!

Hello all.
Very late in the game I'm playing catch up again. Holiday season has had CT busier than (insert example here).
I'm.. going to write these like the next page is out. So if I ask a question that's already been answered nyah.
Panel One:
Oh. Oh. Oh. Can I have this as a desktop Barb? I have two 22 inch widescreen monitors. And this on them.. oooooo. Seriously. This is a beautiful scene in all of its depressingness. It's not london unless there's rain or fog. And the light of good ol' Ben shining out is such a cool effect. I like how the shades of blue around the buildings are lighter than the sky above. Just the way the night sky should work. I kind of wonder just how late at night it is.
Panel Two:
You know. Claude just looks so dang cool in this picture. For a bleeding to death guy in the rain. If I didn't know better, I'd think he were just a laid back dude holding a random spear maybe just checking out his nails. And as cool as -that- sounds, I do know better, so knowing he is catching his breath, probably asking "what the sod/insert british word?" makes it sort of cooler. In a weird gruesome sort of way. This panel does a good job of giving us an outside view of Charlie. Claude. CC as he's called these days. He's tired, confused, wet, and probably in a lot of pain. I think the light, which is needed, is sort of strange, because it doesn't have a source. Or a clear one. It sort of has a "angel spotlight" effect. Well, there's two lights. One is a soft washed out, melting into the surroundings one. It seems to be coming from off camera and has a streetlight feel to it. But the main light, coming down on a triangle, zooms out of nowhere from straight above Charlie. Almost feels mystical. The window seems bare for some reason. I don't know what -could- be there to be honest. Not like curtains would be on the outside. But it feels empty. I wonder what's in that building. The puddles on the ground are an excellent touch.
Panel Three:
There are quite a few things we can discern from this panel. Wherever CC was prior to getting stabbed, it was extremely formal. That's most definitely a tux shirt he's wearing. Tux shirts have the lines down the middle, almost ruffles. And a cumber bun. Hate those things. Cuff links too!
He's also been having far too much fun. I'd say that shirt didn't come undone after the stabbing. As there is lipstick on his lips, face, down his neck and inside collar. I think that's lipstick on his lips. Maybe that's blood. Speaking of blood, there's a lot. He's been stabbed, sliced, or something. And I think I said this before, or at least thought it. But isn't that about the same spot as we saw him being speared in the way way past? Probably -just- a coincidence. You know. Barb does those. >>
And what else can we perceive? That CC is too cheap to get a haircut prior to a formal event. I mean, man. That's some long hair. Time to get it chopped dude. I like the added touch of showing the black buttons on the tux shirt. These are a pain to get in by the way. But CC is nothing if not a meticulous guy who gets tradition down pat. Tux shirt. Check. Cumberbun. Check. Cuff links. Check. Useless black buttons. Check. Bleeding hole in body. Check.
If something is missing, I'd say it's a look of pain. For something that's bleeding so bad, CC is taking it pretty well. I mean, yeah his thoughts are not pleasant, but he's focused more on "this can't be real" than "OWwwww.". Which makes me wonder how long it's been since he was stabbed, whatever, because in truth pain does dull after awhile, and adrenaline rush helps too.
Panel Four:
I like the look of fear in CC's eyes. And for some reason the lipstick mark looks evil to me. Maybe it's just me. The drop of water coming off of CC's nose is a nice touch too. I think... maybe.. CC's voice is still being found by Barb. The english slang is there. But I guess I see, "They're chasing me!" instead of, "They're coming after me!" .. maybe that's just me again.
And Panel Five is such a cliffhanger.
Charlie is going all out with the stab. Both arms raised, and so much the sleeve with the lack of cufflink is falling down, and the other is flying around a good bit too. Where did he get this spear anyway? Historical society? Too much fun with a one night stand? That's some weird fun. But I don't think I've seen Claude/Charlie with such a determined look, at least not in this life. For a brief moment all the self doubt seems to have been put to the side while he makes a choice. The choice to live. I wonder if that's the first time he's honestly made that choice this go round. But such a cliff hanger. What's screaming like that? And... has he put his other watch away? I only see one. That is somewhat sad. But not surprising I suppose. Barb's mini cliffhangers from page to page are so very good.
Ok, that's it for today. One review a day until I'm caught up. Toodles. _________________ The meaning to life is *censored!*
