I love the first panel! It is such a gorgeous, gorgeous way to draw a rather rainy, grey autumn evening! So bloody gorgeous! Love the slight fog and the way the trees look, as if a wind`s gonna blow through at any moment. And Livy looks cute and stuffy from behind! And I also love the effect the last panel has because it`s cliffhanger-ish. I really love the update. The art is as per usual stunning, and the story gets exiting! Yay for you Barbington! _________________ Don`t touch my dirt

I love stories that start with some blood. I do hope it's not just a paper cut!
Great page Barb, very exciting! If I had more time I would say what I think of all the pretty trees & stuff but I don't, & Cerri said it all! You make lovely forests!
Can't wait for the next one (& I do think to donation thing is a good idea! yay!) _________________ "Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness."

*breathless and starry-eyed*
Is that some kind of ruins in the mist, like some kind of magical ruins? Is he looking into Azloe? Did something come out of it and shoot him? Or is he going to be tending to the wounds of a delusion?

| London! Mist! Rain! Walking underneath autumn leaves! I'm in absolute heaven! What a great great page! I felt like I was there, Barb, and then the shock of the second panel...BEAUTIFUL! :-) |

Hey, thanks y'all for comments!
I admit, I was really happy with that first panel. I'm not often happy with my work as you regulars all know- but this one turned out better than I saw it in my mind.
Mystical city? Azloe? No- it's the London skyline, but I'm glad that sense of something 'out there' was conveyed, even if it was accidental.
I was also pretty happy with that blood. Blood is very hard to draw and make look real. It could have been more smeary looking since it's in the rain, but I was going for more jarring shock effect. A cozy scene to -- HUH? Again- it parellels a lot of personal things...
Jerle-that this story makes Monday easier for someone to take - that makes me happiest of all. ^_^
Thank you all!

OMG Barb, you are totally right. That bloody hand is frickin' awesome. And the "spreading through the cloth" effect? Someone beat me to it: "bloody" perfect. I admit, I am oozing teh envy. BUT IT'S GOOD ENVY.

wow... just... wow.
i love this comic, and i can't wait to see what happens next!! daaah! but while i am anxious to see what happens, i am definitely not pressuring you to get pages done... people who are all like "waaah why don't you update?!?!?!" seriously must live in some kind of fantasy pony world or something.

Hi I'm lateish--SORRY. I know everyone feels a gaping hole where my lame input is when it's not there.
So I just really wanted to say that that big panel really is rocking it. I like how it feels all cold but sticky and cruddy and just one of those days. You know.
...Right.

Love the page, Barb. Most excellent.
One small problem I spotted. In the third text block it says:
"I couldn't forgot ..."
instead of
"I couldn't forget ..."
*hugs* |

| Is it weird that I love Livy's little doggy bottom? Because I do, but in a totally not weird way! She's just so cute and I've had doggies like her and I can just imagine how it would waddle back and forth when she walks and be adorable....okay I guess this is kind of weird but she's so cute! Also this whole page is amazing. Great end to the prologue, Barb! Appropriately shocking! |

And what a fabulous page. My mind says this review will be shorter because there is less content (even if there is huge context).
The first panel is just gorgeous. The text seems a little small... but you know what? I'll get out some glasses. Because I'd rather put up with small text than have larger text and miss some of these details. Oh my the details.
Misty fog.. just like London should be. The skyline in the background. I can see why some might think it looks like a ruined city. (Hello! London? *runs away*) But no, those are the tall towers London is so famous for. The only people who could make a tall tower look nice and not like an awful blocky skyscraper.
The trees are beautiful. This is obviously fall..ish. Not extremely cold yet. But the leaves are turning colors. Thus Charlie can make do with a fancy trench. And the umbrella that doubles as a cane. (So british). Handy for the sudden rains. And Charlie joined the Royal Historic Society huh? That's a prestigious position. And it seems as though even without Dr. Ambrosia that love for history never could go away. I wonder if that's bred into him by being apart of so much history. If this is a common thing across the lives of Claude (If it's not a delusion!).
I notice that by this point Charlie is convinced it is a delusion. He uses the word himself. He seems to have come up with some explanation as to why Livvy isn't a delusion, and her presence is perfectly acceptable. (And that's not to surprising, anyone would really) But it's almost saddening that he accepts what the doctors told him. Accepts the label.
I think his lifted foot looks a little weird. Maybe that's just me. It's a hard thing to draw I imagine, especially with the pants. And Livvy sure is short! And has a round little bottom. An ordinary life. I kind of wonder how many years it has been. We've an idea. He graduated from Oxford (wow, smart man) and has taken on a profession. So it must have been quite some time.
And that second panel. To go from peaceful to .. well.. bloody.. so quickly. Wow. Is this the same day/night? I admit, I didn't quite get that it was raining right away. The rain is more.. silhouetted than anything. But I eventually got it. And I think the hand is just a wee bit off. I think the final digits of the fingers, leading to the nail, curve up a little more than would be normal. But it's a small detail. What -is- awesome, and what =really= helped me get the rain, is the wetness of Charlie's hand. 0.0 How did you do that? And the blood. Blood is -so- hard. I don't think I've ever really seen it look right. Until now. Why is he bleeding? I wonder? And the 'until this night' REALLY makes it ominous. It's a large wound and he's bleeding fast. Is he getting help? Huh. Isn't this almost the exact same spot that Claude got speared in ancient days of war? Coincidence? I mean... it looks like the EXACT spot on second viewing of previous pages.
On an off note, I notice Claude isn't a nail biter. Nail biters are always ignored in these stories!
I think this page is fantastic. It goes from some a beautiful and picturesque scene. To one that makes the eyes go wide and the mind race with many many many questions. What is the 'delusion' or is it a delusion? What hurt him? Why is he in the rain? Just what's going on? Where's Monday already to tell me these things??
And that. that's the best sort of page I think. The one that makes you want to race to the next page. Kudos to Barb for pulling it off so spectacularly. _________________ The meaning to life is *censored!*
