What's everyone watching?

For topics that don't quite fit anywhere else. (Everything and anything from 'blah blah blah' to 'ya-da-da-ya-da-da' and all points in between!)

I'm watching Avatar now, some fanart I saw in DeviantART got me interested. The first season is almost over, and I'm totally hooked. :P Too bad the episodes aren't downloading quite as fast as I can watch them. The animation naturally isn't anime-quality, but it's good enough, and otherwise the series is great. Not that much depth, but actually I like this light stuff and only one or two episodes long arcs more. It's refreshing after all that bloodshed, angst and mammoth-arcs in anime and manga. :P And damn, that humorous dialogue is way better than in any other western animation I've seen. :D

Anime-quality?
It's SUPERIOR. The motion is a bazillion times more fluid than you'll find in the average anime show. They sacrfice trivial details to really advance movement and expression. I really admire their dedication to quality.

Though be warned, the longer you watch, the more ANGST there is. It's kinda sad. XD They get really into it; you can tell that a growing fanbase affected the liberties the writers could take with the story once you get to season two and beyond. It's good.

My gosh, you are so right. I swear, if Zuko or his sister angst anymore, THERE WILL BE PAIN. Mine. As my ears bleed from it.

I think fanfic writers took over for season 3. That's what it feels like.

You're a bit late with your warnings, I watched the latest episode almost two days ago.

Average anime? I don't watch that. I watch only good anime, and their animation is almost always way better than that of Avatar - though it's gotten better since the first season.

Angst? I almost didn't notice, there's so little of it compared to most anime series. Actually, I think it's good that we're finally properly getting into the heads of the "bad guys." That's one of the reasons why I like the third season so far way better than the two earlier. I think the episodes are also even more imaginative than earlier, and much more atmospheric (for example the second one in the season, where Aang organized the dance party - my favourite episode in the series). Atmosphere is very important to me. Generally I don't like angst, but if it's done right, even it can add positively to the atmosphere.

By the way, since when has Azula been angsty? :? "My own mother thought I was a monster... She was right, of course, but it still hurt." <That's pretty much her only angsty line so far.

By the latest episode you mean The Avatar and the Firelord or Nightmares and Daydreams? The former is the latest in US and the latter is the latest in UK.

It's a pity we'll apparently have to wait until November 23rd for the Day of the Black Sun invasion... And after that there'll probably be another break until January. But naturally there was no chance I could resist the temptation of watching all the episodes they showed in UK last week... -.-'

No way... It was good, but it was nowhere near the level of the season finales or the second episode of this third season. Well, that's what I think, anyway. :P

Babylon 5 now. Damn, that Commander Sinclair must be one of my favourite characters in all the western TV series I've ever watched. Otherwise it seems a pretty good series. Not as good as Star Trek - Deep Space Nine (which has a very similar basic concept), but well worth watching.

Edit: NOOOO! Sinclair was removed from the series after the first season, only to return in a few episodes later. Damn, why did it have to be the one character that made the series more than "worth watching"? I hope the replacement will at least be a good one...

Ok, I've just fallen in love with the anime Pretear. (Magical girl anime - sort of a cross between cinderella and snow white.) Been having fun watching it lately. I'm a silly magical girl romantic at heart.

And I'm sorry, certain anime guys are just gorgeous. =)

Aren't we all, which i noticed about myself when I found myself loving the stardust movie.

And those anime types are quite pretty to look at, my own personally favourite is Alucard from hellsing. So wickedly insane and slightly evil not to mention tall dark and fangy. 8)

Beware of little girls with Alucardplushies. They be mighty dangerous.
