Xylia Blog: Oh lord, slumping...

Postby BarbJacobs on Fri Oct 12, 2007 3:30 am

THis used to happen during Talismen too- I would fall into one of these art slumps where I couldnt focus long enough or draw well enough to finish a page. They are profoundly irritating, but one thing I said when I started this project was that I wouldn't sweat it if I had to take breaks for a bit. If people want to get mad, I will have to let them, because my sanity is a fragile thing, prone to shattering from time to time.

Got a lot of freelance piling up, a kid having major problems in school, and a new boss starting at work on Monday- scary. Not only that, but I am flat broke, so money is a real problem- and when you have two kids that wont quit growing, having no cabbage can be really difficult. Mac and cheese for Barb for a while, until I get those jobs done and billed.

So anyway, I will make every effort to get that page up on Monday.

Promise.

Some of the most popular (oh geez, I spelled that as "poopular at first) comics take breaks for weeks, like World-break, and even Inverloch. If you need more time, then take it. :D

As you know, I work with a few artists between the comics, and I have a rule #1 that we all follow.

Life comes first. Always. If you need some time, take it. We'll all still be here when ya get back. :D

*glomp*

Hope the finances change around here soon for ya. Until then we have PLENTY of college-aged people around here. Come on, people! We need cheap-as-heck recipes to live on!!!

Here's one I used to do in the Marines.

Cheesy Noodle Snack

Ingredients:

1 Ramen Noodle pack, any flavor (best taste with chicken or pork)
1 slice american cheese
2 pats margarine (butter doesn't melt right for this)

Cook Ramen noodle, move from water to a bowl WITHOUT draining. There should be some water still on the bottom of the bowl... this helps melt the cheese and margarine. Place cheese slice on top of Ramen, wait 30 sec for cheese to start melting, then stir until cheese and margarine incorporate fully with the seasoning pack. Eat and enjoy.

...

Yes, it's just a ramen noodle with a slice of cheese on it, but Cheesy Noodle Snack just SOUNDS better, doesn't it?!?

YOU TOOK A BREAKE?
I didn't even noticed- I'm still like, checking the pages that or already up, there's so much stuff in them... & the fan art stuff are so great!

Hmm.. you should do like you did on Tali- when Ollie did some of the work himself (with stick figures). I bet December take on the story will be interesting... Not to mention Tychia's

Hey, fillers can be as much fun as a comic... Well, almost. Hope things ease up for you. E-hugs!

Finances seem to be tough for everyone right now, myself included... I actually had to ask my mum for money, I NEVER do that, and boy do I hate it. Mums are great, though!

Good low-budget food:
Beetroots, potatoes, carrots and onions, peeled, cut in smaller pieces and baked in the oven. Serve with chicken, (avoid the purple glittery kind, though. Someone has been tampering with those...) which can be baked together with the vegetables, or some other type of meat. Maybe a cold yogurt sauce with garlic, if you like that (and I do!).
Those are cheap ingredients here at least, there are no complicated steps, you can use whatever of those ingredients that you have home, and it's quite easy to make this dish for several people. And also, I love beetroots.

You are all so kind to me!!

Despite the slump, the next page is done. It's in the hopper, as it were. It is my LEAST FAVORITE PAGE to date, but I cant labor o'er it any longer. I have to move on. Sigh.

Now on to the next page which IIM not really looking forward to either!!

Thanks for the support, gang~

I'm getting the feeling you're the only one who is going to complain about the page Barb. The rest of us are going to be floored by its wonderfulness. :D

Hey Barb!

Sorry I haven't been active for the past few weeks; school has been busy.

Preface aside:

Barb, with me now: *Breathe In,*Hold*Breath Out*.

Everything going to be fine we'll await your return when you come back ^_^. Hang in there we're all rooting for you. I'll try to check back more often. And remember we all need a break sometimes. Life throws us all curve balls, some we miss and some we hit. Sometimes we just need to take sometime to prepare ourselves for the next round. ;) See you when you get back.

Barb, the page is awesome as usual!! There's no way we're gonna complain because, as Kez said, I know at least I'm, 'floored by its wonderfulness'!!!!!
