Robert Jordan...The Dragon is dead.

Postby KEZ on Fri Sep 28, 2007 4:10 am

Okay, for those of you who know what I read and what I write, RJ was my hero. He was my inspiration to not only write, but to write LARGE. A world. An entire scope. Cultures and people and histories unending. Writers write what they love, right?

Anywho, I don't want to turn this into a discussion on right and wrong ways to write, because anyone who has ever picked up a single novel of the Wheel of Time has their own opinion on it. I love the series personally.

But RJ (Jim Rigney) has died after a long, hard, grueling battle against Amyloidosis. It was sudden, and it was hard.

I am sad.

Here is his blog, if anyone is interested: http://www.dragonmount.com/RobertJordan/

aw man, my best guy buddy will be so sad since he is reading the wheel series at the moment.
Must admit that I have read some of those books to and they where pretty good and he had a way of binding this large world together in to something belivable.

Was never into the books, but it's still sad... Did he ever finish the series?

Damn... I knew of the illness and its fatality, but I hoped he'd still have some years left. :( Not only to finish the last WOT book, but also to write a few more of the stories he wanted to share with the world. I'm sad. :(

The spooky thing is, my buddies and I were discussing this very topic (the chances of him dying and not finishing the series) a day before he finally did.

For years I've been saying that he should hurry up and finish, or he'd die before he'd had the chance to. And now look...
