Pae 9 - For once, logic didn`t matter

Postby Ceridwen on Mon Sep 24, 2007 5:10 am

First off, I really, really love this page! It`s so nicely done! I mean with the scenes drawn in without colours as background images to the stories that Dr. Ambrosia tells Claude and everything. So neat. I love, love, love it. I especially like the fire-scene, I just hear the Hero-soundtrack playing in the background. And I wanted to write more, but then I probably shouldn`t have started this five minutes before I had to run for the bus.

*looks at watch*

Actually...make that a sprint.

I shall write more after i come back from having a fit of jealousy  ! Seriously though, Claude looks so heroic, and Xylia so beautiful....and Dr. Ambrosia looks so mysterious!!!! Super work Barb!!!

This page is so beautifully composed it literally takes my breath away. I just looked at all the pages there is so far, and there's simply not a single boring panel anywhere! Everything looks so thought out and balanced and I just want TO EAT IT!!
My favourite bit: The fire scene. Fantastic!

See, this page right here is why I'm generally a lurker. It's just so beautiful and so cool that I have nothing coherent to say but that I absolutely love it. I mean, I could say that about every page. It doesn't add much to the conversation though, does it? ;)

I really like the Dr. Ambrosia half silhouette on the side. I almost didn't notice it the first time I looked at the page. In the fire flashback I think the sketchiness comes out the most out of the three "memories," which is what makes it so awesome.

spaaaarkly Xylia. :)
"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance. I had high hopes of being Evil when I was two, but in my youth I came upon a firefly burning in a spider's web. I saved the victim's life."
"The firefly's?" said the minstrel.
"The spider's. The blinking arsonist had set the web on fire."

'London bridges falling down falling down falling down--'
Bad luck seems to follow him everywhere...

That fire panel was my favorite too- I was pretty happy with that. Originally I intended to have a few more shots of old Claude in there, but the page was already crammed full.

Miriam- you are not the only one who didnt notice Ambrosia right away. I think that's great! I love it when people don't see everythign right away. Originally I was going to have him completely silhouetted, it was pretty cool- but I thought I should get a hint of his face in there.

Thank you all for the nice comments! ^_^

Next page, Charlie has his doubts. And gets 'labeled'. Oh dear. I hate labels.

Ya'll gotta realize that this is still just the prologue. Still set up. We havent gotten to the story yet! Blast these once a week updates. Oh well, Once a week=pretty detailed... more often = really sloppy. You know which one I want to do.

Totally demanding more pages with pencil work inserted. It has such a nice quality to it. And it's all parchment-y!

Also Ambrosia's profile is all stoic and IMPORTANT and that nose just dominates. One nose to rule them all...

I don't know about darkness, but Dr Ambrosia sure seems to be binding alll the Claudes together

Yeah, me to. Especially the ones that say "Dry clean only". They're pesky.

Yeah, but it's one hell of a set-up! Well paced, completely catches your imagination, gives a great introduction, and also it looketh awesometh.

Also: Is it possible that Dr Ambrosia is both janitor extraordinaire and Nosewraith?

Heh, the story. Looking forward to it!

I just keep imagining Dr. Amrosia and Claude having their usual chat-storytelling session when Ambrosia goes all serious and tells Claude it is time to let him know why he`s been telling him all theese stories. And then follows up by revealing to him the fact that he is the next reincarnation and that he has to go out and look for a winged-girl. Which will leave Claude pretty much in a "WTF"-state and utterly confused.

This book he got interests me also. My current theory is that he has written his story in all his previous incarnations, and now he`s gonna have to do it in his current life. If this is true though...how does he get hold of the book in every new life? Maybe Dr. Ambrosia is a stalker.....hmmm.

So...has it occurred to anyone else that Ambrosia might be Claude? I guess it wouldn't really make a lot of sense, I mean, Charlie is obviously the next incarnation of Claude....but that NOSE! I mean, its very distinct, and espicially in this last panel its hard to deny the resemblance between the two! I can't figure out how that could possibly work, but it seems like such a big coincidence.....*ponders*

I endorse hothotpot's theory. Because I think it would just be mind-bendingly great.

"I'm Claude"

"NO I AM"

And Xylia takes a vacation.

...This gives me so many ideas.

Hmmm....

Ambrosia being the former incarnation of Claude, teaching his younger self eternally? Mmmmaybe ....
