Page 8 - "Empty?"

Postby Aerin on Mon Sep 17, 2007 10:18 am

I love this page! I love how Dr. Ambrosia's office or whichever becomes a broom closet! Utterly fabulous! And the book is empty....duh duh duh duh... the suspense builds, what's going on? ?? Super work Barb, I can't wait to see what comes after 'I was quite wrong'!!! I love it!!!

Lovely page- and again we were wrong, Dr. Ambrosia isn't telling it, Claude is? Is he writing this on his notebook (the so called "empty" one?)
Is Dr. Ambrosia human? Is he a fairy? So many questions... cool...

I love the panel in which Claude is knocking on the door- the prospective is so great, child-like view on the door!

Aerin-

Nice job titling this thread! Couldnta done it better meself.
Glad you like the page! A line like "I was quite wrong" is always a curious thing. Especially when spoken (or written by a man) OOOOOOOOOO. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Slap me.

Actually the first pages were Ambrosia telling the story of Claude and Xylia. THe next pages are narrated by Charlie/Claude, but Im thinking I should change the captions in the first part so they arent on the parchment...
Too lazy right now. ^_^

Thanks for the comments~

Obviously Ambrosia, being multi-talented and able to multi-task, not only guides Claude but makes certain the building is cleaned to his satisfaction by doing it himself.

Okay...okay...just kidding. I couldn't resist.

Gotta tell you, Barb, I love these quiet pages of yours. The pages that seem to have no action but really contain the strongest clues and motion in the story. Fantastic page! :-)

It's funny, some of my favourite stories contain that element of a place appearing and disappearing...
Aw, little Claude, I love those expressive, pale green eyes!

Also: Dr Ambrosia is obviously a cleaning lady in disguise. Obviously.

Dr. Ambrosia: Great janitor or GREATEST janitor? Cleans up fast, doesn't he?

...Okay, I'm out of broom closet jokes now, I promise.

Man I love how you never cut corners, Barb. There are so many places a texture can be ignored, but you put it there anyway and make it seem more homey. *fistshake* Settin' the bar all high n' stuff! :P

And I can still say that Clause is a good storyteller :P Hah! Very nice update Barbington, I like the office that turns into a broomshed too, or maybe it just looks like a broomshed to everyone else until he feels like letting anyone get inside again. Efficient cloaking device! I want one too..

I do like the expression on little Claude`s face there, so awesome :D

This is great, Barb! You've got me all curious here. How did Charlie meet Dr. Ambrosia, anyway?

If that happened to me, I'd seriously question my sanity. What a conundrum! Evidence of the event in my hands, and yet no other trace to be found of how I just spent my last hour(s).

The dog is gone too. That must be one magical office. I bet Doc has a self-satisfied smile on his face right now.

FIE upon this confounded job of mine. This schedule!

Oh, how I tried to sketch up a little picture of Dr. A with his mop, but I just ain't got the time. Waaa.

Anyway this gave me a good laugh, Steve, and thank you for the nice comments on this scene. I worry about it being too slow, you know.

Hmmm....you been reading ahead, my friend? La la la la...

As far as how they met as well as other unanswered questions that folks have, I am going to be posting a FAQ page (well Im going to nicely beg Kez to help me post it) where I will get into some details that I just dont have time to put into the webcomic. I will have a thread here on the Forum where people can ask questions that I will update it with. So looky for that!

Thank you Elle, for noticing details. I do cut a lot of corners, but I try not to because I think 'maybe one person will notice that I put that there...' ^_^ I figure since I only do one update a week, the pages better be as good as they can be.

Thank you yall!!

"Only?!" Do you realize that with quality art like yours one opdate a week is often?

If you want to see a drawn-out, too long for its own good scene, check out The Draconia Chronicles. (The art is a bit mature on the furry-female scantily-cladness, but it's not adult.)

http://www.2wconline.net/draconia_current.html

I really like the art. But they only update every other Sunday, and I'm so tired of this particular fight scene, I'm about ready to be done with it. It's like the comic has been one long fight scene, almost. I know that's not true, but it's been going on for nearly a year and it's around 1/3 of the entire comic right now. (Like, pg 47 to pg 71 and counting.)

That's too slow. It needs some sort of break in the action.

Thank you, Krozam- that is nice of you to say. I still wish I could update more, I really do!

Liria- that is a long scene! Wow. I dont feel quite so bad, except that the scene Im stuck in is a slow one instead of an action one!!
